I just started reading Judith Heumann’s book, “Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Advocate.” She said years ago, babies with disabilities were often killed, or institutionalized, and that had such an impact on me to my very core. That broke my heart on such a profoundly deep level. The world is SO much more beautiful and light filled with people with disabilities in it. We *have* value.
I look at one of the first baby photos of me and I think, this beautiful baby IS worthy of life and I’m so grateful she was able to grow up into such an incredible woman and disability advocate. I LOVE who I am in this world and I’m so proud of how courageous and also how loving I am. I do my best to lead with love, always. I am *so* grateful I was born in a time where I was able to LIVE, and to show the world what someone with a disability *can* do! ![]()
