I’ve had writer’s block for a while now. It’s gotten to the point where I haven’t even tried to write anything. I’ve been asking myself why. Writing is my passion and one of my favorite things to do. So, what’s blocking me?
I think the idea of guest blogging is scary and intimidating. I typically just journal for me. So, only I see it. Or, I show it to people who are close to me and who appreciate my writing. But, the idea of others (who I don’t know) reading it is terrifying. What if they don’t like it? What if they leave a nasty comment?
I realized my self-worth is very much attached to my writing. If someone thinks my writing stinks and isn’t good enough, then it means *I’m* not good enough as a person.
I do believe my writing can help people, though, and that’s what’s making me take this step and write my very first guest blog article. Basically, what I’d like to say is even though something might seem scary and intimidating, don’t let it prevent you from trying it. It doesn’t have to be perfect! If it’s not great the first time, that’s not a reflection of you as a person. It’s a chance to grow. With practice and the openness to make (and learn from) mistakes, you’ll do even better the next time.
If you know in your heart you are meant to do something, I encourage you to at least try it. Sharing my writing feels extremely vulnerable, but I’m doing it. So, be brave. Share your gifts and your light with the world!
